Zero Moment SER5 MAX and Tesla M40

About#

Bought a Beelink SER5 MAX, really can't stand the weak performance of Vega 7
But still want portability without losing it, so chose to use NVMe to SFF-8612 (OCuLink), just unplug the cable if you want to take the computer with you
Using the open-source Universe EG01, the stand looks pretty good
The main reason for choosing the Tesla M40 graphics card is actually lack of money (x
Performance is okay, large memory, and most importantly, it's cheap

Process#

Arrival, plug in, boot up, easily stuck at self-test
It was actually an expected issue, couldn't find the Above 4G Decoding option even after flipping through the entire BIOS, still the same with UAFB
After searching, saw a tutorial using UEFITool to find VarStoreInfo of Above 4G Decoding and then force enable it with modGRUBShell
(Note: SER5 MAX's VarStoreInfo is 0xF7)
After enabling it, the boot-up was successful
Next is the normal process of installing drivers, modifying the registry to enable WDDM (reference)

Performance & Benchmark#

Busy, will do it when free

User Experience#

The graphics dock can be randomly turned on and off, which is great, no need to keep pressing the switch
The fan is as noisy as EVGA's 980Ti, no speed control or temperature control, it runs at full speed when turned on
However, the temperature control is very good, no matter what game is played, it won't exceed 50℃
